About me
I’m Alex, a Senior UX Designer Researcher with over 9 years of experience crafting intuitive, scalable, and human-centered digital experiences. Specializing in design systems, B2B enterprise software, and UX research, I help teams bridge the gap between user needs and business goals.
At Sagent, I led UX research initiatives that uncovered insights, shaping mortgage servicing solutions and enhancing the customer experience for millions. Whether it's conducting in-depth user interviews, usability testing, or data-driven analysis, I believe great design starts with a deep understanding of people.
I’ve worked cross-functionally to streamline workflows, build robust design systems, and enhance enterprise applications. Beyond designing, I mentor aspiring UX professionals on ADPlist and share insights on Medium.
Outside of work, I’m a film buff and camera nerd who loves dissecting visual storytelling (and occasionally shooting my own). I’m equally obsessed with coffee—dialing in espresso shots is my favorite micro-optimization—and I keep a curious eye on real estate, where systems thinking meets the physical world.
Let’s connect, research, and design a smarter future—fueled by good stories and great coffee.
How I Work With Cross-Functional Teams
I’m a team-first designer who co-leads outcomes with PMs and ships feasibly with Engineering. Here’s what that looks like in practice:
With Product Managers
Co-own the problem & metrics: We align on the jobs-to-be-done, success metrics (e.g., adoption, time-to-task, error rate), guardrails, and risks before pixels.
Write it down: I create a lightweight Design Brief / Template (problem, users, scope v1/v2/out, constraints, KPIs) and share early via FigJam/Loom for async feedback.
Hypothesis-driven discovery: I run interviews/usability tests and turn insights into testable hypotheses and a sequenced plan (MVP → experiments → hardening).
Prioritize tradeoffs transparently: I make cost/benefit clear (impact × effort × risk) so PMs can steer roadmap with eyes wide open.
With Engineering
Design for feasibility from day 1: I pull in a tech lead during flows/wireframes to surface constraints, reuse components, and de-risk edge cases.
Specs engineers love: Figma with interactive prototypes, tokens/variables mapped, states (empty/loading/error), and acceptance criteria tied to events.
Pair to ship quality: I do design reviews in PRs, keep Storybook parity, and adjust patterns when code reality says so. Accessibility (focus order, contrast, keyboard) is non-negotiable.
Measure what we ship: I partner on analytics (events, properties, funnels) so we can evaluate impact post-launch.
Ways of working
Cadence: Weekly PM/Eng/Design triad, design crits, usability testing, async feedback to unblock time zones.
Systems over one-offs: I extend the design system (governed components, motion, a11y) so velocity and quality scale.
Experimentation mindset: Wherever makes sense, we A/B test, check feedback log, conduct follow-up interviews, qualitative + quantitative evidence drives iteration.
End-to-end clarity: I always show the complete flow (before/after, states, handoffs) so no one is guessing.
What teammates say they can expect
Clear artifacts, crisp rationale, and fast feedback.
A calm partner in ambiguity who turns messy problems into shippable plans.
A designer who cares as much about outcomes as output—and makes the team look good doing it.
